Privacy policy

Last updated October 16, 2026

ExplainTime EDU is built for students and teachers, and it works without collecting your personal data. There is no account, no advertising and no tracking. This policy explains what the app stores and where.

Data the developer collects

None. The app does not send your timelines, quiz results or usage to the developer or to any third party, and it contains no analytics or advertising software.

Your timelines

Your timelines, including their events, descriptions, photos, drawings, links and chosen backgrounds, are documents saved where you choose: on your device or in your iCloud Drive. Files in iCloud Drive are held by Apple under your Apple Account, and the developer cannot access them. Apple’s handling of iCloud data is covered by the Apple Privacy Policy.

Photos

When you add pictures to an event, you choose them yourself. Only the pictures you pick are added to your timeline. The app does not read the rest of your photo library.

Apple Intelligence and Image Playground

On supported devices, event suggestions are created by Apple Intelligence and custom backgrounds by Image Playground. The topics and descriptions you enter are handled by Apple’s own features and are not sent to the developer. Apple’s handling is covered by the Apple Privacy Policy.

Sharing and handing in

When you export a timeline as an image or a PDF, the app hands the file to the share sheet, and nothing is shared unless you choose where to send it. If you hand in a timeline with Schoolwork, it goes to your teacher through Schoolwork and your school’s Apple School Manager account. The developer does not receive it.

Links

Links you add to events open in your browser. The websites you visit have their own privacy policies.

Diagnostics

If you have chosen to share analytics with app developers in your device settings, Apple may provide anonymized crash reports and usage statistics to the developer. You can change this in Settings under Privacy & Security, Analytics & Improvements.

Deleting your data

Delete a timeline from the start screen or in the Files app to remove it. Deleting the app removes the timelines stored only on your device. Timelines in iCloud Drive stay there until you delete them.

Children

ExplainTime EDU is made for students, including children. It does not collect personal information from anyone, including children.

Changes

If this policy changes, the new version will be posted on this page with an updated date.
